So is there a way to make the Java builder pattern less annoying? Specifically for protobuf but I've seen it elsewhere and it doesn't seem very kotlin like

Builder().apply { .. }

isn't bad

I find it wasteful and a distraction to try and gloss over commonalities present in Java though

builders work fine in kotlin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@supaham Python's long is unlimited. Kotlin standard types are all limited, so it doesn't really make sense to use

im trying to execute a testcase in org/jetbrains/kotlin/codegen/LineNumberTestGenerated.java but I am getting the error java.lang.IllegalStateException: \dist\kotlin-mock-runtime-for-test.jar does not exist. Run 'ant dist'

although I have run ant dist already and kotlin-mock-runtime-for-test.jar is present in dist/ folder

@voddan: RE: power. It's no different than using Math.pow now. You'll get whatever overflow exception and you handle it yourself accordingly

The idea is the syntax makes it more readable

and easier to type

and of course, given that it's an operator override, that would give more power (no pun intended ;)) to users
