Maybe. I don't self-promote much, it's actually hampered my career. 😕

Promotion is hard, especially when your heart's not in it (I keep thinking "there must be someone out there who I can get to promote my events and books and stuff, because I don't want to).

I just don't like the attention; saying "look at me!" is antithetical to who I am. I'd rather do, and let people's interest in "who did that?" serve as promotion. But most people don't have the time or the interest, so I end up under the radar... and I'm actually okay with that, although it'd be nice to be more in demand, I guess.

When I started out, I decided that writing articles and (later) books would be my promotion. And that works OK, and I've enjoyed lots of things about it. But looking back, I realized that if I had done some kind of direct promotion as a consultant instead, my life might have been a lot different. It's not clear to me that it would have been more satisfying, however. Maybe yes, maybe no. The only way to find out is to reboot the simulation.

What's the difference between java static class members and members in companion objects in kotlin?

I would say they are equivalent. However companion object itself can implement some interface or extend class, so it gives you more flexibility

So I'm trying to use a kotlin library project in a java application and when I go to build it the classpath only references the submodule/build/classes/java/main directory. I see that the submodule/build/libs/jar-file.jar contains all the classes, but I can't figure out how to get the project to reference the jar file or additionally source classes from the generated submodule/build/classes/kotlin directory
