    I created a brand new desktop compose app using IntelliJ/IDEA 2020.3, on macOS without changing anything from the default demo app. run and package works fine. I then copied the folder to a Windows 10 machine and it doesn't work -> getting this error: PS D:\Work\desktop-compose-test> .\gradlew.bat run
    > Task :run

    0.3.0-build138 broke something for me: https://github.com/PaulWoitaschek/Chess/commit/60c94d73ecefd770f14a9a77044bae4f4fca1141 When I bump this to 138, 139, 140 or 141, it runs in some kind of recursvie compose loop and the game stays white while I can see in the logs that its recomposing in a loop

    Hey folks, I just wanted to give Compose a try using IDEA 2020.3.1 (Apple M1) and Azul Zulu Community version 15.0.1. I've followed the project creation from within the IDEA. then running the application leaves me with the errors below. Do I need to add any ARM-specific files to make it work with Apple Silicon?

    Hi, i would like to ask is there any plan at all (and if any, some roadmap for it) to support ARM architecture? My company want's to migrate old JavaFX application that runs on RaspberryPi to something more modern and currently we are divided between Flutter and QT. We would love to use Jetpack Compose since most of us know Kotlin and play with compose for some time 🙂

    short question: how do I get horizontal/vertical scrollbar to get displayed ... I can scroll, but the scrollbar itself is never visible:
    @Composable
    fun AppRight(modifier: Modifier = Modifier) {
        Box(modifier.fillMaxSize()) {
            val verticalScrollState = rememberScrollState(0f)

            ScrollableColumn(scrollState = verticalScrollState) {
                LoremIpsum()
                LoremIpsum()
            }
            VerticalScrollbar(adapter = rememberScrollbarAdapter(verticalScrollState))
        }
    }

    I did an app Layout purely with (Scrollable)(Column/Rows) inside
    window { MaterialTheme { Surface { DesktopTheme { Scaffold(() } } } }
    now when I start Mouse selecting Text (e.g. at the top of the rightmost column (see screenshot) Text that is in other columns at the same "height" gets also selected. In the Screenshot I only selected the Text of the rightmost column. But the whole center column and also stuff on the same "height" in the left column gets also selected. (Even if I open the Scaffold Drawer and start Mouse-selecting text in it, text in the bodyContent columns gets also selected) Is this problem "known" or am I doing something wrong ?

    In compose version 0.3.0-build143 the onDispose function is replaced by DisposableEffect where a key is required. But in my use case i just want to do some cleanups when the composable is removed from the view tree. How can i implement this with the new API?

    what is the eventual way to display a popup "panel" under/beside an arbitrary @Composable. There once was a DropdownPopup but it was removed as I read. is there a "current" solution to do an arbitrary Popup directly beside a @Composable ?

    I make a simple compose application (LazyColumn with Text, Buttons and LinearProgressIndicator in the rows). When I make it in Linux everything worked fine. But when I compiled it for Windows on the same computer and run, I got an fatal error in JRE. Compose version 0.3.0-build143. Another Compose application with a more complex interface worked fine with this version of Compose and with the previous ones. I try compile the project with different variants of JDK (liberica-14, liberica-15, adopt-openj9-15). This error occurs in different moments: while changing the progress bar or at the moment of a simple button click... JVM save different report files but they all have the same beginning:

    hmmm, my implementation of a thing similar to aboves SearchTextFieldDropdown: if I put
    Column { for (i in 1..100) { Text("item $i") }
    inside a `@Composable DropdownMenu()`'s
    dropdownContent
    the dropdown "disapears" if height is larger than the window height (and I cannot put it into an explicit LazyColumn as
    dropdownContent
    Clause is already a
    ColumnScope
    Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? (or is DrowdownMenu not meant to show things with height > Window.height?)

    gradle createDistributable
    (MacOS) I get:
    Invalid JDK: /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/adoptopenjdk-11.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/jpackage is not a file!
    Ensure JAVA_HOME or buildSettings.javaHome is set to JDK 14 or newer
    do I really need jdk above 11 or just another jdk than adoptopenjdk? also it complains on mac bundleID not present, but I don't get where to put below
    macOS
    clause in my build.gradle.kts (using latest intellij)
    macOS {
        bundleID = "com.example-company.example-app"
    }
    any ideas?

    Hello, is there a way in jetpack compose to adjust the window size to the content size? I tried the onGloballyPosionated modifier, but it only works when the window is already visible. If the window is too small from the start, it takes these values in the modifier. I plan to calculate the window size and adjust the position according to the content size. Unfortunately, it doesn't look nice when the window is already visible and then adjusts itself.
    Box(modifier = Modifier.fillMaxWidth().onGloballyPositioned { layoutCoordinates ->
        val manager = AppWindowAmbient.current //AppManager.focusedWindow
        windowSize = IntSize(
            layoutCoordinates.size.width,
            layoutCoordinates.size.height
        )
        manager?.setSize(windowSize.width, windowSize.height)
    }) { ... }
    Thank you!

    @Composable
        private fun emptyIcon() {
            Box(
                boxModifier,
                contentAlignment = Alignment.Center,
            ) {
                Image(bitmap = squareImage, alpha = 0.2F)
            }
        }
    Since build 142 I am kinda forced to set
    contentDescription
    ? Kinda confused since it's a
    String?
    and I am using named arguments... very early here 😄

Is there a question? Content description is a mandatory parameter

but wasn't before right?

It's nullable, but no default value set in the function signature. So you have to provide it explicitly.

I wonder what the reason was to make it mandatory

Right there in the source and commit message

just for convetional sakes? Like best practise in HTML where one should always provide the
alt
attribute?
ok thx

Accessibility is not a convention

I guess it's incentive for people to use it (if you really don't want to you can create your own
Image
composable)
