Ever wanted to just build a nice json in kotlin, but found raw string templates hard to keep pretty? Well turns out you can make full json DSL with just a few lines of code.

I created a small KMP library implementing Dubins path in an object oriented way, open-sourcing the library in case anyone else ever needs it. The Dubins path is commonly used in the fields of robotics and control theory as a way to plan paths for wheeled robots, airplanes and underwater vehicles. In the future I want to implement Continuous Curvature, which is needed for a gradually increasing steering angle like the turning of a steering wheel. https://github.com/ESchouten/Dubins

I did a live programming stream yesterday: I built a basic, albeit functional, web crawler from scratch in Kotlin (without external libraries) :kotlin-intensifies: If you are interested in watching it afterward now, check the VOD:

    https://youtu.be/3jLSePn8afg▾

At the very end of the stream, I found out that there were even people from this Slack server watching live that found it somehow 🤩 It was my first ever livestream, but I enjoyed it thoroughly! It was also very interactive in case the audience has some ideas or wishes what to implement. Thus, I'm planning on doing more of it. In case you are interested in future ones, consider subscribing to the channel, as I will schedule them multiple days in advance which should allow you to see that or let me know and I'll ping you here on Slack beforehand.

Advent of Code 2021 in Kotlin – Win Prizes, Solve Problems, Have Fun! It’s that magical time of the year! Supermarkets are stocking cookies, the smell of cinnamon and roasted chestnuts fills the air, and maybe you’ll even see some snowflakes fall in front of your window. It can only mean one thing: Advent of Code is coming! It starts December 1, when the first of twenty-five coding […]

If you've ever had to apply inline styles or try to create links within text, you know how painful it can be. But no more! Today I am officially releasing Thistle, a small markup library for creating text with inline styling. It is capable of producing "styled text" for several different UI targets, including native Android, Compose UI (both Desktop and Android), and Console. See screenshots in 🧵 and documentation and example projects in the Github repo.

Pushed Kermit 1.0. It's our KMP logging library. We've been using it for a while but finally took all the prerelease feedback and did a bunch of tweaking. We have some more specific posts coming around performance, production config, crash reporting integration, etc. https://twitter.com/TouchlabHQ/status/1469004818471604227?s=20

We are happy to announce that after a year of development, communication and collaboration with awesome ktlint and kotlin community, our small group of enthusiasts has finally stabilized our code analyzer, called Diktat. After 25 minor releases, more than 400 issues and 650 PRs we have finally released a major version 1.0.0 🥳. Diktat is already used in multiple projects and we hope, that you will also try it or at least give us a star on the GitHub ⭐. Thank you! 😊 https://github.com/diktat-static-analysis/diKTat
