I was playing with a few ideas for an enhanced

cd

in Kash, e.g allowing bookmarks. For example, you can save a bookmark called

k

that points to

~/kotlin

and

cd k

would take you there. Looking at various examples that are already out there for inspiration. Suggestions welcome.

It might be useful but I always ended up creating my own aliases like

alias cdk="cd ~/kotlin"

I use https://github.com/mfaerevaag/wd for bookmark on shell.

I actually have a project that sets up all my projects, they all have an alias and I can do "cdp alias" for example. I'm going to try to port it as a command in here so it doesn't spawn a new jvm everytime

The same alias work in commands for: opening the project in intellij, building it, publishing it to maven(or maven local) etc, it actually speeds up when working with many projects

Installing a new personal server, how stupid is it to make kash my shell right now?

@ribesg It would be very unwise 🙂 Even I don’t use it as my main shell yet, a lot of things are not working right yet (I recently filed feature enhancements for JLine3 and I got a response today so that might help).

I recommend just using it as your daily shell for starters and file issues for every thing you notice is not working as you’d expect.

@eggcaker I’m building it on both Mac OS and Windows, and it’s building on Travis-ci too. Are you seeing build errors?

I just improved the release process, can someone download the latest release from http://github.com/cbeust/kash/releases and confirm the script inside works fine?
