hi all, I have question around the grants programme. the application form talks about private individuals and in the info box states "for example, the copyright on the project should be owned by the individuals, not a business".
with all my open source projects i copyright them under my own personal business; i am the sole owner with no employees. my poor accounts (which are publicly available) certainly demonstrate the money i earn through apps i've written as an indie developer and through medium articles isn't enough for anyone to live off 🤣
of course I could change the copyright to my personal name, however, part of the reason to keep it under my personal business is things like limited liability - i'm not purposely or maliciously writing bad software (at least not knowingly) but if someone did want to sue for whatever reason i am much more personally protected because of the limited liability of using a limited company.
the other side is financial... any earnings are taxed a lot less through my personal business than if the money went straight into my personal bank account - from an open source project point of view this means things like github sponsorship - not that ppl sponsor open source (although i have one active sponsor of $5/month - this feels like a win though, lol). this also means any grants from the foundation would also be taxed a lot less and go further than being paid to me as an individual.
so of course the question is, what does this mean for applying for grants? as an indie developer who puts everything under his personal business am I automatically rejected from the grants programme?

Just a question regarding the funding aspect. Is that a fixed amount or a variable depending on the project and how big impact it has of the community? And is that information publicly available?

Just curious, is there a rough ETA when we'll get an update on which projects were chosen by the Grants program?
This is my personal opinion, and others may want to chime in if they think differently, but I think the grant program announcement lost an opportunity to highlight other open source projects, even if they were just honorable mentions.

I submitted a proposal but I didn’t get any response from the Kotlin Foundation, either before or after the announcement of the winners. Did anyone else receive anything?
