What would be the process of debugging Kotlin-native code in an iOS emulator, or device?

So what are the current thoughts around threading? The concurrency sample passes messages back and fourth, but once this is implemented in Kotlin, what will the limitations be that constitute a message? I.e. if I have an immutable object of my own design will I be able to return that from a thread as a result?

Hey guys, i've been trying to run the tetris sample code on my iphone but i guess i didn't understand the necessary steps well. Someone that already was able to run it can help me? I've compiled the code but i don't know what i should do with the executable file and the Info.plist file on xcode.

i’ve been trying out rust to see how their memory management works without GC and ARC. Admittedly it’s a radical model but it’s good.

@olonho What we can expect in future stdlib? Does it make sense to expect file/networking io, concurrency and http/http2 in stdlib or cinterop (eg: curl for http) is the way going forward??

i could really use some of the primitive Array extension functions... 🙂

@olonho , one think that i didn't understand taking a look at the documentation was how can i pass a CValue as a struct parameter to a C function. One example is that i've tried to use a function from SDL2 which expects a struct parameter SDL_color, so i need to create this on kotlin with some values like {255, 255, 255} and then use it when call the function. Can you help me with that please?

Awesome release guys. When are we getting extern C?

Is it possible to pass a Kotlin-native object pointer to C++, and then have C++ pass the pointer back to Kotlin-native? I'm trying to find out if there is any way to pass Kotlin objects between threads without serialization / deserialization.

@kropp thanks for your reply. When would the unregistering be done? There are no c++like destructors in KN. Or did i just miss them?

Perhaps Kotlin/Native could be made to map to some common subset of GObject and COM? Then it would interop with commonly used object models on both Unix and Windows. (The systems are at least conceptually similar, but I don't know if they differ too much in the details to make it workable.)

Hello, i have a question about Kotlin Native, how is team working behind Kotlin Native thinking about memory management? Will Kotlin Native try to compete with Rust with his ownership system or just will bundle another GC into runtime?

have you folks considered using Graal and SubstrateVM to compile kotlin to native?

I'll put it this way. We share a feeling that there is a lot of code that is being written in C/C++/Go nowadays that should not and need not be written in them. Kotlin is not for everybody either, but it is pragmatic and caters to a larger developer base.

@olonho During the Android talk on Kotlin, multi-platform was specifically called out, talking about sharing code between Android and iOS. With the current ability to export to C / C++, interop with Swift / ObjC will be ugly / difficult. Are there any plans to make interop with ios easier?

Has there been any research on if LibGDX and Kotlin native could play together? For example, my entire game I’m writing in LibGDX is in Kotlin.
