I'm looking to setup a windows machine to host a teamcity instance, I was using desktop copies of windows 10, but since I'm looking at upgrading some hardware Im wondering if i should upgrade to windows server, and that means I need to figure out what the hell a CAL is. Does anybody have a blog post they can point me to that explains this new fangled windows server 2016 licensing scheme?

The performance of the Slack app is not great but everything else is really good, starting with the UI (IMO the best chat UI I’ve ever seen)

I'm kind of trying to think of a proposal that starts with an "a" just to mess up the order: https://github.com/Kotlin/KEEP/commit/80e293c847e39401dd86e2195e21ead9a657fbe1

(shameless plug) I’m building a generic technology twitter list here: https://twitter.com/orangy/lists/tech If you think there is something missing, please suggest! Everything related to software works, but prefer non-personal (project, company) accounts, with not so much traffic (just news/facts/announcements), rather popular and generic topic (not something about new JS framework), etc.

The original title of https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48317709/why-is-kotlins-map-filter-reduce-slower-than-javas-stream-operations-on-large "Why is Kotlin so slow in comparison to Java" really makes me angry. Such a lazy approach to formulating a question. And not to speak of the "benchmark" itself.

Not really kotlin related but I’ve tried importing my intellij (AS) settings into Rider and nothing is working anymore. It seems like the entire keymapping is destroyed. A few colleagues have the same issue. Is there any workaround?

I think that some people here who are gamers and programmers will find this game right up their ally. The game primarily supports Javascript, but I’m using Typescript. You can also compile C++ or Rust to WebAssembly if you prefer as well. I’ve also tried using Kotlin as well but chose to use Typescript instead. https://screeps.com/

In other news, I'm so fed up with python's stdlib I'm rewriting my scripts in kotlin. Learning Python and Go after seeing Kotlin had some serious impact on my fun with those languages.

I also think their hardware while pretty and powerful is not ergonomic and not practical. The macbook itself has a super sharp edge that immediately cuts of any circulation to my hands, the aluminium finish gets scratched by just pushing the thing around on a flat table. Their accessories are also awful, the magic mouse does not conform to any human hand and the cramped flat keyboard makes me cringe when I see my colleagues ulnary deviating their wrists trying to type on it. Apple has not employed a single ergonomic specialist in their design department. That's my only explanation.

lol Finder is such a bad joke.. why the f is there no button to go up a level, seriously? I mean what really blows my mind is not that some random company has a shitty OS, what blows my mind is the incredible adoption of macs amongst devs and the praise it gets from them. Makes no sense. These people should know better.

Not by default, but you can download the google settings for the formatter: https://github.com/google/styleguide/blob/gh-pages/intellij-java-google-style.xml
