Years of Kotlin and Java and still can’t figure out how to use
    in
    and
    out
    properly 😅 Passing a
    Something<out Result, in Data>
    to a function of
    SomethingElse<out Result, in Data>
is impossible without casting and I’m pretty sure it’s wrong anyway. But I have no idea how to model something like that properly… In my case I have a
    Visitor<out Result, in Data>
and want to pass it a
    VisitCoordinator<out Result, in Data>
    . Noooo legit way.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a lightweight linux distro that is usable in VirtualBox, easy to install, and can easily install the GTK 3 development library/package (for cross compiling a Kotlin Native library) without having any other libraries/packages removed. Any distro based on Debian or Ubuntu will have the issue where installing the libgtk-3-dev:armhf package will remove other packages, including the libgtk-3-dev:amd64 package ☹️.

I'd like some multithreading advice. Im trying to write an view model abstraction which has State, and I'm wondering if I should prohobit reading the state off main thread. I.e. both writes and reads of the State only on main thread

sync s1 will start sooner, working on State1 s2 will start later, working on the same State1 (since s1 didnt finish yet) s2 will finish sooner, update the state to State2 s1 is still running, then finishes and replaces it with State2' (and it didnt see the State2 result)

Hey guys, I wanna hear about your opinion on a topic: I want to build myself a HEDT for (mostly) Android Development which I'll eventually also be using for building other stacks with their daemons and services (running a development postgres instance, development server, small minikube development cluster for test reasons), as well as the tooling for front and backend development. But the focus is 80-90% android development. Do you guys think an AMD Threadripper 3960X/3970X is too overkill for that matter? I was wondering if gradle could take advantage of the ludicrous extra core count. (24/32 cores over the non-threadripper tops of 16 cores), but idk if it would be a reasonable difference taking price into account. It is possible that most of the time gradle won't be using that many cores anyway. I intend to throw linux at it. Do any of you who own a HEDT Workstation tried to see the difference between Windows/Linux performances?

what about branching vs versioning? the version fike should probably be versioned, but should some script just increment a version file which is commited? that would cause a infinite loop

Hello everyone, has anyone tried [GitHub Packages](https://github.com/features/packages)? And if so, can it be used instead [Bintray JCenter](https://bintray.com/bintray/jcenter)? By this I mean being able to publish JARs in a way they can be fetched by setting up only one Maven/Gradle repository (not one per GitHub repository). Thank you very much for your thoughts :)

imo it’s still not great but it works well enough compared to how bad it used to be
most of the nerds I’m acquainted with are fans of various thinkpads and the dell xps line, though I don’t think there’s a 14" version of the latter
