@jb yes, using Kotlin with #vertx for REST APIs and for DB access Frontend we build in Angular Dart, busy prototyping with KotlinJS to see if it's a suitable replacement for Dart. Would be nice to work in one language across the board

is to boot up. Loving it so far (despite the pain of having not having any docs). It is slowly turning into my goto tool for getting an api up and running fast.

depends on the "gain" I guess, switching to a new Kotlin-based framework would mean learning a new framework AND learning Kotlin for newcomers, whereas using good ol' Jetty with the JSR-whatever annotations means they just need to learn Kotlin and a couple of gotchas (ex: JSON libs, etc). Depends on the workplace I guess 😛

Has anyone come across resources for using co-routines beyond some of the github pages? I was hoping to find something in Kotlin in Action, but it doesn't mention anything about it.

Considering using it in production, haven't come across anything that doesn't deem it production worthy yet though.

I am sold on Kotlin. Trying to sell Kotlin and the principal architect asked does it improve performance, cause that’s what we need to sell it. As if “syntactic sugar” is not enough.

Just do the same you did with Java, but in Kotlin 🙂 Or take a look at number of Kotlin-targeted server-side frameworks, such as #ktor, or Javalin (recently went 1.0), or http4k. Take a look at #spring Kotlin support if you are into it.

Kotlin 1.2.0 is out now, but including Ktor into the project brings kotlin 1.1.51 dependency with it, does anyone know how to handle this while leaving the project to run on 1.2.0 ?

hey guys. i just jumped into developing a backend with kotlin yesterday (based on ktor); looking for a good solution for database access at the moment. so far i think i’ll go with

, but i cant really find samples/tutorials for the set-up, best-practices or something. in theory i’d want to deploy to heroku at some point (so postgresql i guess). maybe someone has some insights/hints for me?
