I've used sangria a couple of times, but thats implemented in Scala - probably best not to have 3 languages kicking around your codebase if you can help it!

Are people not liking using Spring Boot with Kotlin?

Anyone evaluated JOOQ and picked Exposed over it?

Would be interesting to do a comparison between JOOQ and Exposed.

Well for starters, jOOQ comes with a 300 page PDF manual while Exposed has a grand total of 2 examples.. that alone makes jOOQ a much more viable choice at this moment

jooq also has lukas eder, probably the most approachable and active guy in open source

True, Lukas is awesome, I don't think I've seen a jOOQ question anywhere without him coming and answering it 🙂

One core difference that is immediately obvious is that jOOQ scans the database and generates the model code while in Exposed you have to generate the model yourself; both can be a plus or a minus for somebody, obviously

But for us versioning the database with Flyway and generating the model with jOOQ offers total control over the database and a very fast development time

..combined with gradle tasks to automate this, we find it a pretty sweet setup

Does jOOQ annotate with

@NotNull

? If not then thats a plus to Exposed at least 🙂

..just went ahead and did this, 90 files changed + 457 insertions, but so worth it 😝
