Great.. I plan to clean up the code and get the albums to display instead of all tracks currently.. then let the user select an album, load an fragment for the album and display the tracks the let the user play a track... after errands..'

That's why I'm looking at them. I've always wished for RxJava to be rewritten from scratch in Kotlin, but I always thought it would be too much work. But JB says coroutines would make it trivial.

According to Roman Elizarov, you just have to implement the reactive-streams standard with coroutines. The coroutines handle backpressure and all that other stuff that makes RxJava enormously complicated to implement.

Yeah, started playing with it and it wont be a small project, but it wont be a behemoth either. A lot of overhead can be reduced by extension functions and inlining. May explore this when i feel like it here and there.

that's what i do; wrap the observablelist in an objectproperty. if you look at the javafx docs, you'll see that listview is looking for that
