@carlw Where would you put commands? Many put them in the view model directly it seems.

@edvin for now, but I'm interested in binding them directly to the view. i don't think this compromises anything architecturally. it's similar in architecture to databinding ex button.action = DownloadCommand

Hello, small tornadofx newbie question: how can I achieve "mnemonic-aware" form fields so that underscore in field name (e.g. "_Username") is treated as mnemonic and Alt+U would focus field element (e.g. textfield)?

@lena.goldebaum We don't have built in support for that, but it shouldn't be too hard to do. I will also look into adding support for it if it can be done cleanly. I'm a bit swamped tonight, but I'll look at it tomorrow, OK?

@gtnarg It let's you bind a property to the button, so that when the command action is executed, it will pass whatever value the commandParameterProperty contains. If you want to just supply a static value you can do

commandParameter = 42

.

@gtnarg That's just it, you can use the action from several buttons at once, and they could send different parameters based on where they were activated from. You can of course just execute a command yourself:

myCommand.execute(myParam)

.

Or

myCommand.execute()

if you have no param.

@lena.goldebaum I'm so sorry - just remembered, we DO have support for mnemonic targeting. Just call

mnemonicTarget()

on the input inside the field that you want to activate when you hit the mnemonic key combo, and you're done 🙂
