if you switch it to hi (1800dpi) it is very very good, but as I dont need that kind of accuracy I have it set to low (800dpi)

the extra buttons do not emit standard button codes (coming from an X background where pointingdevices are recognized up to 8 buttons) which is why it works so bad in mac. The mac software sends "control-alt-command-9" for button 6

the m570 from logitech behaves correctly in that regard. I was reading on the internet that the problem I have with them is not a new problem but seems to occur a lot that the switches start malfunctioning, so I mailed the logitech customer service. Lets see if they will respond

The buttons can be configured so that the top right is left and bottom right is right mouse button, which would work pretty well if you operate it with the thumb.

I couldn't find many good videos on it, I just took a leap of faith. I love it so far. I'm not as accurate as the mouse when selecting text etc yet, but I suspect there needs to be a small trade off to a trackball. It does save a lot of shoulder and arm movements.

itself. It makes it much easier to identify which tab was selected, and even use enums for both the labels and the identification.
