if you read the rest of the github ticket you see that edvin added trayicon support on feb 21

@r4zzz4k TornadoFX blends the concepts of Stage, Scene, and root in a lot of places. For example, you'll call openWindow() in place of "new Stage().setScene(new Scene(root))". primaryStage is provided to the app via the Application.start() method in the JavaFX API.

@r4zzz4k I think the decision to require a primary view just came as a consequence of how you initialize applications in JavaFX, but I've actually run into several situations where I've hid behind a "Preloader" just because it's not clear what view will be shown to the user first (depending on application state, for example login info etc). You'd still need a hook to make something happen when the app starts though. Will think about this 🙂

you know how you get a preloading screen when intellij starts up?

@ron JavaFX has a specific preloader that can be shown just before the app starts, but it has no value IMO. What I usually do is to set the main view to a

Preloader : View()

and hook a progress bar and status text to some state happening in a controller. When the controller is done with it's tasks, I swap out the preloader for the welcome screen or whatever you want to show.

and you set the preloader view up to hide the window decorations

Yeah. That would give you the same effect as the idea loading window. Some times I've kept the primary stage hidden for the time being and show the preloader in a new modal window, then I start using the real primary stage for the main view of the app.

@r4zzz4k I found a way to not require a primary view, will commit some code after watching star wars with the wife 🙂

Oh wow, that sounds neat! I've actually just put in the following for now:

It suits my needs 🙂
