or a way to tell the user that something is loading?

This is my view, I do not see where I could put the runAsync

I tried in several places, but I always get a thread error saying that I am not on the JavaFX thread

(it displays a loader though)

Whoa, I upgraded to tornadofx 1.7.15 and all my tables report mistakes now

@borboss column() calls throwing errors likely need to be readonlyColumn() now.

Good day, I think I found a bug in the tableview with observableList. Here is the gist - https://gist.github.com/borboss366/0e9d3c6d72bd17de8de7790282caa856 This demo app emit a series of data objects (IdHolder). Each of them has an id and value. IdHolder are created with random fields, but the ids are in range 0..5. They are wrapped in the IdHolderWrapper, that has a holderProperty with IdHolder. When a new IdHolder is generated, that If wrapper with such id exists in observableList, it’s property is updated, otherwise new IdHolderWrapper is added to the list. I created observableArrayList with extractor, but the table rows are not updated, if the holderProperty changed. If we select a filter, that the list is updated, but only because the number of displayed elements change.

I'm not sure I would have expected the observableArrayList to observe all the elements that are in it

@bjonnh I’m debuggin now. Actually the change is fired, but somehow it does not update the table itself for some reason.

I used previous version of tornado - there was the same issue with column

@borboss for JavaFX ObservableValue use column(), for POJOS AND POKOS use readonlyColumn()

Question: Can I use the

runAsyncWithProgress

with asynchronous api's e.g. rxjava so the progress indicator apear when I start the operation and end after success or failure? Or do I need to implement that myself?

Is there any method that forces a reload of view

?

@Nico Smeenk I think you're going to have to use one or the other. RxJava is great if you have complex, multi-step concurrent operations. But if it's a simple concurrent extract/transform/load operation you might be better off with runAsyncWithProgress or coroutines
