it's not the "complicatedness". Just that the author did not implement a shutdown for the service he starts

seems a little heavy to me...running servers and browser w/i a javafx app but I haven't read up on dataviewer

I also do that, but mainly in dev mode to connect the webview to chrome dev tools (with some heavy adapting, cause webkit)

I just needed a fast lineviewer

with zoom capabilities

you can at the least create an issue in their project

i think they should add a destroyView() to go along with the createView() at a minimum so that you don't have to dig through their objects to figure out what needs to be killed

(this is in the wrapper class)

so, like Roman says, just explain the problem you had about not being able to exit after createView() was called

I ended up using plotly.js in webview. It is really really fast (loads 128K points in a second or two, even by having to send them through executeScript). It is several orders of magnitude faster than JavaFX charts. and it is interactive with no lag at all (pan and zoom)

did anyone do javafx webview testing? Does a selenium driver or something like that exists for webview?

Well if it's "several orders of magnitude faster" I'd love to use/see that...

@bjonnh i found web sockets to be pretty efficient especially compared to the polling of plain HTTP

If you do a comparison, be sure to post some code so that others can make it more efficient in case you missed something

@edvin for the layout manager suggestion that just came into github...maybe users are looking for something like iOS auto layout or adaptive layout that can be built on top of flowpane?
