I'm thinking of creating a DirtyFX library, for Java and Kotlin. I have used the ItemViewModel sometimes, but oftentimes I have several dirty domain objects that I want to remain dirty until I'm ready to commit them.

I have an ObservableList, which has a size. If the size is <= I want to use a hbox, else a vbox. I tried to make an observableBoolean based on this observableList, and use a when, but it doesn't seem to reevaluate when the observableList size changes.

You'll need a dependency on guice 4.2.0 for this to work

^ I was working with Guice on a plain JavaFX app to trap an exception that was being thrown from many places. I could have gone in and edited many files, but I wanted to keep this surgical because this was a hard to reproduce error coming in from the field and i wanted to reverse course easily if the fix didn't pan out.

I'm going to write this up in a blog post and will mention the default error handler with TornadoFX. This value I think this technique adds is to be able to apply this to specific classes. There are some limits I'll mention too. Classes and functions must be open and created by Guice. I see the use for this non-UI, plain classes.

does anyone know if calling Platform.exit() is a valid way to stop a fxApp?

or is there a special function that needs to be called?

may I suggest an improvement? Right now I'm trying to write tests that test a tornadofx application with rest calls using async. I get an issue when I have more than two tests that do async calls. The issue is: the tfxThreadPool and tfxDaemonThreadPool are shut down (as they are effectively static) when I try to run the second test on the save JVM instance

I would be happy to submit a PR to fix this, for example keep these guys in scope of the application or somewhere that they would be created on demand if they are shutdown

would be nice to get some guidance where better to go with this @edvin

@Romanow That's a good idea, I think they should indeed be tied to the application instance. We have some other resources that are tied to the application if I'm not mistaken

I think a map of these might be put in the FX companion object

When using

openInternalWindow( view = myView )

what is the recommended way to query the view once it has been closed - similar to what you might do for

openModal

(except that

openInternalWindow

isn't blocking)

This works - not sure if there is a more idiomatic way to do it.
