Hey, I've been trying to limit the number of rows displayed in a combobox. Normally, I'd just set the visibleRowCount and it works fine, but if I'm using makeAutoCompletable(), then it seems to ignore whatever I set visibleRowCount to. Is there a way to use makeAutoCompletable() with a comboBox and still set a limit on the visible number of rows displayed? Maybe by setting up a custom filter in the makeAutoCompletable()?

creates its own skin i.e.

AutoCompleteComboBoxSkin

which doesn't respect

visibleRowCount

as of now. You can try to limit the height of the ListView in the skin using custom css. It might not work but worth giving a try 😉

I am currently stuck with a very basic thing. When I open a secondary stage from my app, I can't seem to apply the

Stylesheet

object to that stage. The same stylesheet object I applied to the primary stage using

importStylesheet

but I can't seem to make it work in secondary stage. Secondary stage is just ignoring the stylesheet. Any idea guys?

I made it work using

FX.applyStylesheetsTo(scene)

So I'm trying to draw several arcs and circles stacked on top of each other, so you see concentric arcs and rings. I went off of the following part of the guide. However, within the panes that I have tried, setting centerX and centerY hasn't moved the shapes within the pane. @S are you using a StackPane or plain Pane?

It sounds like you're trying to mix absolute positioning with the StackPane

use Pane for absolute positioning and StackPane for relative position. I just posted an example of a 3-layer control (Rectangle background, label toward the left, button toward the right) that might give you some insight. Look for "My Take on ClipView"

That's the selectedTags variable. Adding or removing to this globally-available object will notify bound components -- the children of flowpane -- to update.

I also use an observable() for the list of tags. That list is static, but if it were able to be updated, then it's changes would be reflected in the combobox.

what you want to avoid in a tornadofx program, is having different UI components, say a button handler, interact directly with other UI components, say a combobox

instead, factor out the data (items, a selected item, etc) and use those throughout the program. a first order refactor can bring these member fields accruing at the top of the file into a separate object that can be shared through CDI (context dependency injection)

The way I explain it to myself is, "Observables are objects which can notify others when a change takes place in them. This way others can listen to these data changes and make changes, if required."

Okay, I'm seeing where the binding is taking place in the flowpane. I understand how observables function in theory, it's just figuring out how to implement them that trips me up. Thank you so much for the example! I'm already starting to see how the binding and observables are connected 🙂

Thanks for those articles; they're really helpful, too.

the white circle is acutally a button with backgroundRadius & borderRadius trimmed by 100px. It serves the visual look of a circle. However, clicks on the corners of the button still triggers as it is a square. Is there a way to control the area of the click trigger?

isMouseTransparent = true

property but that would defeat the purpose of the button probably
