i put some caveats in about scopes. didn't want to muddy the waters

i don't use scopes in this context unless I want an MDI like multiple intellij projects

back when i advocated for scopes a few years ago...that was in response to an app where the shared global data had to be managed across distinct "subapps". these were completely standalone invocations that needed to be wired up to different dependencies to prevent "crosstalk"

if your app is a single window, you can get by with the singleton/prototype simplification

Linux users also can have top-level menu bar with Unity Shell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unity_(user_interface) But I dunno if that JavaFX parameter affects it

Is JDK10 still relevant or it's fully compatible with JDK11?

@alex It's probably still compatible, but since JDK10 is not an LTS release, it is already EOL'ed by Oracle. Every previous non-LTS release is automatically EOL (or at least end of updates) when the next release comes out, on a 6 month interval.

The good news though, is that an upgrade should be completely seamless once you're on JDK10+.

@edvin are there any reasons to target 10 and not 11? I don't see anyone adopting 10, it's either 8 or 11

@edvin didn't they extract javaFX from jdk 11? To be honest, I don't know if they release cycle is the same for javaFX now as for the OpenJDK

@edvin I probably didn't state it clear, I have the same idea as @Romanow in mind. JavaFX is now hosted separately, if there is no issues because of that, then it's cool.
