apparently in java 9 and maybe 8 gtk3 is supported.. but i cannot get these system properties to print me anything..

i looked into this to see if i can make javafx use the system gtk3 theme

@jchildress Yes, but I also plan to initially remove it if it causes trouble so to not delay the release 🙂

@Spike Baylor @Nikky It kind of is a giant hack, but it really works. I felt it was important to highlight the inherent issues though, and there are a few big ones. But it is a very complete package now, it even works with sound 🙂

@Nikky JavaFX renders it's own ui elements, it doesn't use any ui elements from the parent windowing system or OS

any way to set that like native LaF in swing ?

i expect not.. but it would be nice

@edvin not in production. I was just testing out using it for a new system we are working on. Basically we have quite a few "utility" applications that we want to group into some sort of "dashboard". The appeal was for some sort of "plugin" functionality. But no I don't have any production applications that are using it.

how well does tornadofx work with coroutines ? i want to do some longrunning IO bound task (file scanning ) at startup and in intervals would it be fine to just launch that and add results to a observable list or is there more to take care of ?

coroutines work very well. Not sure you would benefit from coroutines over

runAsync

in the case you describe though. Long running, few tasks.. you wouldn't be using coroutines for what it's good for though.

i could also do this with Filsystem watcher..

but then i need to keep track of which files relate to which objects.. i might have to do that anyways to save data again

ScheduledService has the cancel case handled too

block i add to a Observable list but it does not trigger any updates

do you have a fail{} implemented with at least a log message?

i currently i am doing a Service that keeps running and just adds / removes based on

FileSystems.getDefault().newWatchService()

i know the code runs.. i get the println directly before i call

list += newFile

are you returing the observables in the runAsync to the ui{} function ?

and not just wrapping up various calls with a runLater() ?
