Hey guys. Im trying to create a window using

myview.openWindow()

that works except this new window seems to stay on top of the old one even though the openWindow method has modality of none. i can interact with the parent window but it stays behind the new one. I tried setting alwaysOnTop to false just in case but that didnt help either. Is there something else i need to do?

does the empty string work?

maybe an empty object then?

(tried openjdk + oracle jdk)

ex, ImmutableDomain(-1L, "", null)

where ImmutableDomain is an object you provide

looks like the error is from the selection model. i think i've done stuff like this before with combobox though

I'm darn curious if this is a problem in JavaFX 11. Always curious to see if more bugs and performance improvements occurred between Java 8 and later versions

i'm curious if it's a javafx problem...checking. seems like it might be a null problem with the selection listener and may be limited to kotlin

Select "A" then empty -> exception

i think i punted in a few places and went to choicebox since I didn't need the editing anyway

the "null-object" mentioned in the post was my initial suggestion. Render it as the empty string

we've got to be over the "billion dollar mistake" at this point

most of my domain objects of late support an empty, immutable object

^ this is at least a 5 year old issue

Should be null available in combobox anyway? Doesn't seem right
