What did you get as laptop?

Lenovo Yoga 900 i7. Not very powerful, but very portable and a nice touch screen. The keyboard is OK, the touch pad sucks as on all PC laptops.

Some of the buttons are a bit small and in weird positions, so it takes time to adjust.

It's kind of underwhelming hardware wise, 16GB 1600Mhz Memory and only two cores, but I think it will do as a light alternative when I travel and want to be with the family instead of sitting in the home office alone 🙂 It's a nice touch that you can flip the screen all the way around and use it as a tablet though.

@edvin awesome, ill keep playing with OSGi and figure out how to implement it at work. Regarding mobility, yeah that's the one thing that sucks about mobile devices. The hardware and keyboard is somewhat compromised. I heard that MacBook is the best device if you're picky about trackpads and keyboards. I heard Surface Book is decent. I might make that my next device when second gen comes out. But the Surface Pro is ultra portable and I may stick with that, especially since I can work even standing up or in a cramped seat in a car or plane.

@thomasnield: cool! I keep running into issues with other modular approches, like JBoss Modules for example, so allthough it is a bit cumbersome I suspect OSGi is the best option. The NetBeans module system might be an option as well, but OSGi is used more in the wild. Totally agree about mobility :)

Yep, I totally I agree. The best hardware I've ever had. But I want to run Windows now, and the keyboard on the MacBook pro is painful to use with Windows keyboard layout.

I'm curious, what made you want to switch to Windows? Not that I have a problem with it since I use it almost primarily.

windows 7 at the office, linux mint here on the desktop and a macbook pro for everywhere else
