There is no way to use selectors of any kind in inline CSS.

My problem ist, that the user can set a color with a colorpicker. That picked color is supposed to be used as background color, then the textfil also depend on the background color, and should vary in the selected state

Just make sure you set defaults in the style sheet so you don't get parsing errors.

Data can be added to groups, and the user can easily identify to which group a datapoint belongs to, by means of that color

yeah a Css class can be mapped from the UI selector

each class would contain different color combos to be applied throughout the component (background, selected, etc)

i think if they can select from a color wheel, you might abandon CSS and go with a completely programmatic approach setting object values from a listsener
