@carlw Tomorrow I'll make a SmartListCell implementation so that you don't need to deal with all the

item != null || empty

stuff, and this ListCell will also know how to extract the root from a fragment itself, so

TodoItemListCell

will effectively become a one-liner. This thing will clean up a lot of the internals of ListView handling in TornadoFX as an added bonus!

@edvin: will that be in the tornado controls project?

@edvin i replaced my ItemFragment + ListCell class with the ones from earlier in the day. I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but the following wasn't working 1. Select all doesn't do anything 2. Pressing Active clears any completeds 3. The completed view is empty when there are completeds 4. Checking completed doesn't update the lower left Label

The current head in my branch matches the functionality that FluxFXApp and MvvmFXApp has

Oh my.. Just got my new ThinkPad T460p. This machine actually has Apple level hardware 🙂 The trackpad is very good, the keyboard is damned near perfect.. Really happy with it 🙂

@edvin I'd also like to hear if you're having Gradle problems. I haven't used Gradle much, but I think if you're in the default repository (~/.m2), you won't need a mavenLocal().

@carlw As I understand it, Gradle doesn't look in the default repository unless to actually add

mavenLocal()

to the repositories list. I suspect @ron is correct and that you have mavenLocal configured in your global Gradle settings perhaps?

@edvin I'm surprised b/c Gradle is so big on convention over configuration.

@edvin Do you know if there is an "effective Gradle" setting in IntelliJ? I usually would head straight to that tab for Maven (in Eclipse).

all the docs say you'll need the mavenLocal() to pull in a tornado snapshot. I was just getting a build error on the snapshot and added mavenLocal myself. Not sure why it was working before, but pushing build.gradle update to my branch

i actually have run this project on 4 different machines and couldn't find any gradle.properties that might have had this set

@carlw No, sorry, I have very little Gradle experience in general. To me the promise of Gradle looks great, but I just feel like Maven itegration in IDE's are far better, so I tend to stick with Maven for the most part 🙂 Hopefully Gradle will receive much more love in IntelliJ once you can write your gradle build files in Kotlin.

To me it also feels a bit slower to update dependencies etc, and some times I actually have to restart intellij for it to pick up changes.

hmmz gradle you can start in daemon mode, dont know how well that is supported with IDE's

I have daemon mode enabled. I think it works with the IDE integration as well.

concerning gradle and mavenLocal

I do not have a global settings for it. The parent build.gradle from lestard however does have it. I checked my intellij project and I saw that I have the parent build.gradle imported and the tornadofx build.gradle. I think that is why it is going ok with my computers without having to manually add mavenLocal

i see the same thing. it looks like lestard pulled out mavenLocal w. commit 690877e. I had sent him an issue about the project not building b/c he himself was using a framework snapshot not available to everyone. he must have removed it as a safety check.

I'll start working on the SmartListCell in a couple of hours. I think that will be a big help for both your versions @ron @carlw 🙂

What thing? not the T460p, that's incredibly cheap for the specs. I paid 1300 USD for Quad Core i7, 16GB Disk. 256GB SSD, 14" UHD.

They have some models for more than double the price that can't compete with the specs on this actually.
