I've tried to clean up some of the things I didn't like.

MainView.kt

just had too much unnecessary code IMO. Here are some examples. This is all the code that deals with the "items left" label. There are no updates done to it anywhere:

This is how I make sure the list is filtered based on the selected toggle button. There are no callouts to controllers or other models, in my opinion this should be a private issue for the ListView:

This is to me at least much easier to read.

@edvin How can I style component that isn't in TornoadoFX? Can I? I was trying to use your ListMenu component and style it similar to the custom CSS in the example. I'm lost or having trouble creating a style for it...
