Yeah, I can use name.set and it will work fine. I am more just wondering how to do it using ViewModel and bindings instead, as I need to implement that into other parts of my UI and I don't understand it.

The ViewModel here also acts as a buffer, so even though the titlepane and button is bound the the changeableName property, they will only update when the ViewModel is committed.

If a controller is going to update a data structure that should cause a tableview to possibly have completely different columns, should I bind a tableview to the list and remove and re-add columns in an onchange, or just completely replace the tableview?

@Nikky Use the plugin and create a new TornadoFX Gradle app 🙂 It includes a hello world type app with everything you need to get started.

@sbyrne You should probably replace the TableView. TableView isn't really made for dynamic changes like that, though it works. It turns out to be more trouble than it's worth though.
