    @jchildress Ah, it's part of the TornadoFX-Controls, not standard JavaFX. So I don't think it belongs in TornadoFX core.

    if I use a stylesheet (in this case from https://bitbucket.org/agix-material-fx/materialfx-material-design-for-javafx) can I override some settings with the typesafe builders?

    @ron Sure, just load this stylesheet first, then the type safe stylesheet after, both using the 
    importStylesheet()
    function, preferably in 
    App#init
    or 
    App#start(stage)

    yes you can debug, the debugger works, it is just unclear what you are looking at

    you can select in the tree the nodes and the overlay will light up a little bit but that is all the info you get
