    @gtnarg I added the first stab at an EventBus to TornadoFX, so now you can simply the example a lot. Define the event (object, since it is just a signal in this case and carries no data):

    @ron Yes, an event can determine if it wants to be received on the FX UI Thread or on a background thread.

    It will not run async if it's not called from the UI thread, then it will just continue on the existing thread.

    I inject a model using Guice to be able to access the same data from javafx as from the jetty server thread. In keepassFX they need to be able to communicate with eachother

    in the ui I just scrapped I did it the same way, did not find a more decent way to do it.

    when the server thread needs the ui to do something it will send an event (using the guava event bus) which will run a javafx view using Platform.runLater

    @ron Then you just define any event extending 
    FXEvent
    and fire it from the Java side using 
    FXKt.eventbus.fire(event)
    and it will be run on the JavaFX Application thread when it hits your subscriber.
