Property<ObservableList<E>>, WritableListValue<E>

@gtnarg Yes, but the lowes common denominator would be ReadOnlyListProperty, since we don't actually require something we can write back to, only listen to changes from.

@edvin - are you sure - it acts as a mutable observable list?

@gtnarg It's not the fact that it's mutable that matters, it's the fact that we can observe changes in it. We use it only for swapping out the value of the

itemsProperty

inside the Table or List.

We bind the

itemsProperty

of the list or table towards something. It doesn't matter if that something is writable to us, as we only extract it's value, we never write back to it.

The binding is always unidirectional.

@edvin There are many other ways to do this that avoid the issue, but this is the case where ListProperty != ReadOnlyListProperty. There is a method setValue() that isn't available. Do you want ReadOnlyListProperty just for general immutability practices? Here's some code

The point is that a ReadOnlyList can look like it's read only to the caller, but it can be updated by the owner of that list. This is how many of the read only lists exposed by JavaFX works.

ok. i wasn't sure if there was a case within a listview object to make a setValue call in user-provided callbacks, etc
