I would think changes to the SimpleListProperty would work just like changes to the other properties

that one is working ok, it was just horribly ugly, and now it starts to look nice

Yeah, most of the time you end up with less code, and it becomes more readable and easier to understand the flow 🙂 I usually manipulate the UI elements only in the View. You can think of the View as a container for the UI elements and any UI logic, like reacting to events from the UI and manipulating the UI based on incoming data changes. This encapsulates the UI logic and prevents leaking of UI details outside of the View.

I've done that (in Java). Set the graphic to a pane (MigPane specifically), which filled and right justified my button

You could probably achieve the same effect with some other type of pane

function takes any node for the graphic, so I could use a different pane, but wouldn't it make the region to click to perform its action the rest of the width of the TitledPane?
