@carlw that is my reasoning, I think you are correct. Scala permeated data science because of Spark and no other reason as far as I know. Kotlin makes sense for data science at least to me, hopefully others agree at some point. But most folks don't give it any attention because they assume it's obscure, when in fact it's only obscure in certain disciples.

Hmm that inspired me to reconsider trying to push Kotlin again, because you are right about the structured programming aspect. I had similar pushback-then-enthusiasm with Rx. Maybe I'll try that later this year, and resort to Scala as a Plan B.

@edvin - I'm integrating TornadoFx into an existing javafx application. As per https://github.com/edvin/tornadofx/wiki/Integrate-with-existing-JavaFX-Applications#integrate-with-existing-javafx-applications, this is the entry point as I understand it.

@thomasnield I hope you get through to them. Consider this: If you have to learn a new language to work with data science, picking up Kotlin is far easier than picking up Scala. If however you already know Scala, picking up Kotlin to work with data science is childsplay, almost not even worth mentioning to a seasoned data scientist (if that's even a term).. 🙂

when you look at your code, its not working and you notice that you hare changing in several places to make it work

@ron No, we don't have an onChange function for lists, you would have to add that pesky listener with a ListChangeListener. Maybe I should add one?

well in the keepassProgram I have a sortedFilteredList and a parent-child relation with groups, maybe you remember

when the group changes the treeview showing the groups need to refresh and the items of the sortedFilteredList need to change

somehow I dont get it working
