Also catching up on the conversation yesterday about what Oracle/JavaFX should provide.... I think I mentioned before, but I "wish" the community had something similar to what Microsoft has in the UWPCommunityToolkit.

I think between ControlsFX, TornadoFX Kitchen Sink/examples, Ensemble, Gerrit Grunwald's controls, and other projects that the controls/components are there. Maybe it's just the difference between the Microsoft and Java communities....

@jchildress "What do you think of Gluon's map offering?" It seems to be a very small library (six Java source code files) that fetches map images from a web service and provides a viewport to display these images.

@hastebrot Ok, fair enough 🙂 I guess I was wondering if you had tried it out... and though it provided a decent start...

for my application I started with it and ended up created custom nodes and layer manager... simple app... show/hide layers.... add points, move them...

Nothing very fancy, just basic... I liked it more than using the web based map... I was wondering if you had a preference for web based or gluon's approach

@hastebrot And I guess if you have found any other libraries besides GmapsFX or Gluon? I have seen/tried ArcGIS, but the cost was prohibitive for me currently...

I reverted the nested fxml support and are about ready to prepare for release 1.6.2. @gtnarg Did you want to add a feature in this release? 🙂

@carlw Check my last answer on https://github.com/edvin/tornadofx/issues/243 - I think you're completely right, using builders this way almost makes it unnecessary to support nested FXML via

fx:include

. The example I provide at the bottom shows that you hardly need to rewrite anything at all to support his use case, so I'm beginning to wonder if custom loader is worth the time right now. What do you think?

@edvin When I get some time, I can look at FXML support. I'll parse out some simple FXML and see if it's going to be easy to work with it in a TornadoFX context. A little tied up though In the meantime, I think the requirement to have composable views supported by FXML has been met, although not with the fx:include syntax for now.
