@julienviet What do you think? I keep on getting
    ERROR com.github.mauricio.async.db.mysql.MySQLConnection - Transport failure
, is there a way to avoid this? Would I need to redeploy the Verticle on failure? Is there a callback for this?

is it really best practice to lookup services and write all that boiler plate code everytime - is there a way to hide that - so ppk can just 'instantiate' the service and just start calling it?

Note that Vert.x Starter can create skeleton projects (similar to the Spring Initializr): http://start.vertx.io/ . Unfortunately Vert.x Starter doesn't support Kotlin 😞.

Hi! A small question about a CRUD-like application in vertx using the eventbus. If I have CRUD, should I aim for creating 4 addresses, e.g. BOOK_CREATE, BOOK_UPDATE, BOOK_READ, BOOK_DELETE or should I just have a BOOK address and then write some kind of router when receiving messages on the BOOK address?

Hi everybody, I am not too much into vertx (yet) but have the following question: vertx has this module for mysql and postgresql: https://github.com/vert-x3/vertx-mysql-postgresql-client It uses a driver written in scala which is deprecated. I converted this driver to kotlin: https://github.com/jasync-sql/jasync-sql Do you think it is better to fork the module and create a new one with the new driver or add the driver to the kotlin support or any other idea? if there is a better place to ask this also please let me know...

Any thoughts on this? https://discuss.kotlinlang.org/t/idiomatic-kotlin-code-vert-x/11038 guess there's no better way, but it bloated my code quiet a bit. First, I only had the last coroutineHandler, but I guess without specifying a request body-limit I'd open the doors to DOS attacks. That's why I wrote an Auth handler, then installed the BodyHandler, then doing inserts into the storage system. I want to accept very large files.

hello everyone! i was surprised to see a specific channel for Vertx, pleasantly so. i'm developing a service in my own free time as part of R&D at work, and i'm new to both Kotlin and Vertx. i have a lot of Java experience under my belt, for context. are there any common pitfalls or gotchas i need to avoid when using Vertx, in general and with Kotlin?

How are you guys doing database access with vertx? Do you use orm at all? I'd like to use the reactive PostgreSQL lib, but I would like to know if there is anything that can assist database access/assist with writing SQL

Vertx's default Json class (io.vertx.core.Json) should work provided you have the Jackson Kotlin plugin somewhere on the classpath, not sure what'll happen with Vertx 4 though as I think they're ditching Jackson

Hey, I’m a Python programmer coming into Kotlin. How does one organize your app for vertx + Kotlin? Oh by the way, Gradle is a pain to configure especially if you use Kotlin scripting in it.

With the vertx reactive psql row return type. Is there a way to cast easily into a data class? Right now I'm building out manually via

I have not checked kotlin in a while. I ended up writing my own SQL FRM layer that handles that, and provides a type safe query dsl. Thanks
