It's a long and painful story 🥲
Dokka is technically still in Beta, but it's not like the users have any other choice when it comes to generating API reference documentation, so we try to keep it as stable as possible. The version and the tag don't include `beta`/`alpha` for consistency with previous versions of Dokka (1.4+). Perhaps, it should've been added from the get-go, but I think it's too late now and will only confuse people more.
The current target version for releasing Dokka as "Stable" is 2.0 (
the ticket will be updated soon). It was actually supposed to be released as stable much sooner than that, but various serious problems kept coming in that gradually delayed it all the way until 2.0
