It’s been a while since I posted an update on the next version of
Aurora. Here’s what’s coming in Aurora 2.0, probably around August or September this year. The ribbon! Yes, the ribbon!
This video shows a bunch of features of Aurora’s ribbon including:
• Major parts - tasks, bands, contextual tasks, app menu, task bar, anchored commands
• A variety of popup content, including color selector and embedded scrolling panels
• In-ribbon galleries with built-in state synchronization, including pinning a gallery to the taskbar and synchronizing between the two representations
• Full right-to-left support across all ribbon features
• Full support for all Aurora skins
There’s a bit more work left to be done for:
• Dynamic resizing of content based on available horizontal space
• Minimized ribbon state (only shows task buttons, task content shown in popup)
• Contextual menu
