I wrote an article about Kotlin Multiplatform on Medium. I am pretty new to that platform. I got an invite to get my article added to a publication. Searching online I saw that getting your article in publication helps increasing you exposure. But what is the catch ?
a
I guess it depends on the page you're planning to add your publication (?) BTW: have you already shared it on #C0BJ0GTE2 ?

@Alejandro Rios I got invite from https://betterprogramming.pub/ I haven't shared it on #C0BJ0GTE2. I didn't know there was a channel to spam one's articles 🙂

I have read several articles on that page, the truth is I don't know if there are any "catches".

I write for Better Programming sometimes. They are affiliated directly with Medium and their goal is just to promote good quality writing on the site. There's no catch! I'm happy to answer any questions based on my experience of writing for them 👍
Also congrats, it's great that they liked your article!

Thanks @Sam. I am wondering how much ownership I will have after it is published with them, specially in terms of editing the content. I am writing a series of article as a basis for the presentation that I intend to submit to a conference. So occasionally I update a bit the article, specially when I discover a bit more about the Swift side of Kotlin multiplatform.

You keep all ownership and copyright of the story, and you can edit it whenever you want, or remove it from the publication. When you submit a piece it gets assigned to one of their copy editors who might make some small changes, like fixing typos or grammatical issues, before it goes live. But you're still free to make your own edits to it after that.

It's already published. Will it remain published after I hit the "Add to publication" button ? Will the old link still work ?
s
Yes, if it's already published it stays published, and just gets added to the publication. The old link still works -- as far as I remember, it becomes a redirect to the new one.
For articles that aren't published already, it's different -- submitting it to a publication puts it into a queue and the publication editor decides when to publish it.

Okay, I think I will give it a try. @Sam, thanks again for answering my questions

No problem!
