The initial memory allocation of the process is much lower than the Gradle JVM & Kotlin daemon memory allocations:

org.gradle.jvmargs=-Xms1g -Xmx4g -Dkotlin.daemon.jvm.options=-Xms8g -Xmx8g -<http://Djava.io|Djava.io>.tmpdir=/tmp

Whereas the preloader seems to start at 250mb
