What would really help ecosystem is “unlocking” git repos stored in such centralized locations by using something like “git sync” (Like D in Git stands for “distributed”, right?) so that same git repo is automatically synced to any OSS hosting platform, and potentially, to any private enterprise on-premises solution installed.
