@nish I don't think you control Idea's indexing or not of individual folders with the gradle plugin. A quick google search (for

gradle exclude folder

) gave me this URL among others: https://discuss.gradle.org/t/how-can-i-exclude-certain-java-files-from-being-compiled/5287, but since it's IDEAs indexing you want to get rid of, I think it's IDEA you need to tell to ignore the folder.
