@poohbar few performance regressions (mostly UI related) were fixed in recent EAP. If you can try it (via https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IDEADEV/IDEA+2018.1+EAP or Toolbox) and report back if it fixes it, that would awesome. If not, we will need more information, but let us first try this.
