Well, I'd say -- even as someone new to Kotlin -- that you're going to have "less lines of code" in Kotlin compared to Java which certainly ought to count for something (maintainability, fewer bugs)... but setting the bar as "performance" when deciding between different languages that all live on the JVM is a bit... er... silly?
