- intelliJ is written in kotlin, new version of kotlin -> intelliJ team uses new features -> next version of intelliJ has a runtime dependency on kotlin runtime
- Kotlin intelliJ Plugin updates with the langauge -> new versions of kotlin cause new versions of the plugin. From what I've seen they seem to be pretty good at keeping the kotlin plugin compatible. Coroutine support isnt perfect but its pretty good.
