I’m more interested in the JVM changes than Java changes. The decisions made in Java 1.0 influenced many languages to follow, but I don’t see it as being anything other than a “me too” language after the decisions made around adding lambdas. So new Java will be better than old Java but worse than many current languages to write in (not that Java is particularly bad).
