most people just want to write clean, correct code that's easy to maintain and doesn't require weeks of training for every person on the team to drill new paradigms and conventions into their heads. This is why Kotlin is so appealing. I've gotten tons of people who are only 2 years out of school and only know Java to hit the ground running, writing code productively in Kotlin
