It is an island, although there are at least two lakes with similar name: part of the Gulf of Finland between Kotlin Island and St Petersburg is sometimes called Kotlino Lake (note the 'o' at the end) and there is a very small bog-like lake Kotlino in Vladimir Oblast near Vladimir city.
