Having once again dead-ended using straight jpackage, I tried the conveyor generated javafx. It works out of the box, which, for the record, is apparently a remarkable achievement in and of itself, as not one single jpackage-based sample has done so. I am now going to see if I can get it going w/kotlin first and then w/tornadofx. Thank you for the tip, and thanks for the great work!
