I have been friend of Carlos for several years now. I have talked to him today...
I'm so pissed off and that indignated that I cannot help but write here....
A guy that has been here for years, promoting this language,
writing that much code that I can only say WOW!, helping the community,
coaching people, doing talks, doing beta testing just to name a few things... For what?
He told me that he wanted to make a game engine.... to make somethgn special.
He wanted to do it with people from here that he admired...
With all the things he did, was not even invited to the Kotlin Conf once, not even as spectator.
Rejected, ignored. Even when he tried again and again and again with a smile in his face,
thinking something would change, that this time it would be different... WTF guys?
I know the things he had to suffer as a teenager, forced to lie, continously humiliated.
And now, this? I don't know anyone deserving this less than him, even in this crazy world...
He has done a lot for this community and he deserves a lot....
And yet he left forever without complaining here....
And he told me the he did it like that because even if he couldn't tolerate this anymore,
nor continue alone doing benefical things to a company that is not even respecting him,
but he didn't want to hurt people he appreciates from here so the best he could do was this.....

This thing indignates and pisses me so much, that I'm off too.... Good luck......

As someone that Carlos reached out to directly regarding KotlinConf, I personally invited him to KotlinConf and I said that we would be more than happy to provide him with a complimentary ticket. I have the email exchange for this albeit I’m pretty certain that it is not necessary to show this and most certainly would not do so without his explicit consent. In terms of presenting at KotlinConf, we have a Call for Papers and pretty much everyone (even those wanting to apply within JetBrains) go through this process. Carlos was more than welcome to apply to that also.
