anyone else get this during their compileKotlin task?

java.lang.IllegalStateException: The provided plugin org.jetbrains.kotlin.scripting.compiler.plugin.ScriptingCompilerConfigurationComponentRegistrar is not compatible with this version of compiler

When I make my kotlin version number 1.2.41 it works great but it throws this when I'm on 1.2.50. I've tried clearing my gradle caches. I'm on gradle 4.8. I'm on Mac
