@alexcouch have you tried running through the Kotlin koans? Even the initial set of challenges showcase a lot of the great care put into designing the language. If you’re used to writing C++, the differences (both advantages and disadvantages) as they’re relevant to you should become pretty apparent once you start writing Kotlin. If nothing, going through the Koans should get you familiar with some of the vocabulary you’d want in order to dive into the more academic side of Kotlin. Asking other folks for a laundry list of reasons to convince your friends is kind of a Sisyphean task considering we couldn’t possibly know what, exactly, the advantages of the language most pertinent to them would be.
